Solid product, cumbersome interface

  • July 25, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Robust hardware. Best in business warranty and support (with smartnet).
What do you dislike about the product?
Not coming from a cisco background and having to learn the ASDM interface. I've found it a little challenging and cumbersome at times. Had an issue a few months back where the primary/secondary units were not syncing correctly and it took Cisco support a few weeks to get the issue resolved (it ended up being a bug in the version we were running). I feel like the IDS interface could use a makeover.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We keep firewalls extremely locked down to keep us safe from the outside as much as possible (which poses some other issues). For our needs the firewalls are rock solid and require very little maintenance other than software upgrades.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The newer Cisco firewalls with sourcefire are the best in the industry. The firewalls we are using (ASA-5510) are great hardware with some reservations on the GUI.

No More Malware with Cisco Firewall

  • July 22, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Since we switched to Cisco Firewall I have seen no threats, malware, or issues at all with my system over the past 3 years
What do you dislike about the product?
Cisco firewall does block some sites that are business relevant but we have setup an internal process to allow certain types of access to these sites with permission
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have essentially controlled user access and provided defense against malware attacks for tons of applications
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take a look at all the subscription options thoroughly before making a decision as there are tons of options and additional components with Cisco

I like how easy it is to create a conference call.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like how people go straight to voicemail if you're on the other line.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm not solving any problems at work using Cisco at the moment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
No recommendations I can think of right now.

Not too bad Firewall

  • June 14, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
For the application itself, it gets the job done. Its a failry light client and most users wont be bothered by it/notice it.
What do you dislike about the product?
During some windows updates, it will stop the application from running on some users machines. You will have to go in and set to run as administrator and at a previous version of windows. This was poorly looked at and caused alot of un-needed support calls.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Test before deploying, be ready for patches when Windows Updates come around.

Adequately does what is needed

  • June 13, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can access my desktop and other various applications through a non-work computer (my home computer, in-laws computer if I'm on vacation).
What do you dislike about the product?
Through various updates it seems that some of the buttons don't function as well as others - this may be an internal IT issue, but for example I have 4 or 5 options for a remote desktop, but only one of them actually works.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to remotely access my desktop or various software only available on my work computer if it is stationed at work. Great if you forget to bring your laptop home, or need to log in quickly while your work issued laptop is unavailable.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a good product if you need limited functionality.

What do you like best about the product?
Great tool to use if you want to eliminate threats and oddities while during the workday/outside the workday. It provides a great support system to ensure your company is on the right track.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are cheaper options, but other than that this product is a great tool for companies to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Eliminating lack of productivity due to distractions or malfunctioning products.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would use the trial period first and see if it meets the needs you wish it to. If so, go for it!

What do you dislike about the product?

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly recommended, hopefully company will work out kinks so it does not fail as often

Jalen's Cisco Review

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about Cisco is simply that it seems to work always without fail. Regardless of the configuration you need you can make it happen and keep it working.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is challenging to find staff qualified to make configuration changes, although that is still part of the allure of Cisco.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Providing quality solutions for small businesses, we've found that Cisco provides exactly that, especially with their ASA 5505 and 5506 devices.
